Traffic arrangements for Raiwind Ijtema finalised

LAHORE - Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muntazir Mehdi said that traffic arrangements had been finalised for the first phase of the annual Tablighi Ijtema in Raiwind.

The first phase will run from November 4 to 7 while the second phase will continue from November 11 to 14. “Asif Siddique will supervise all the arrangements,” the CTO said, adding that four DSPs, 30 inspectors, 20 patrolling officers, and 700 traffic wardens would perform duties under the supervision of divisional officers. “Twenty fork lifters will be deployed to deal with wrongly parked vehicles,” he said, adding that a special control room and camp office had also been set up along with seven parking stands for the transportation and parking of the vehicles. Muntazir Mehdi said that parking was not allowed at any place other than parking stands.

“Now, citizens will be informed moment by moment through Rasta FM and Rasta app.”

According to the traffic plan, vehicles of the participants coming from GT Road Gujranwala will be diverted from Kala Shah Kaku Interchange via Thokar Niaz Baig. Vehicles coming from Okara will be sent to Raiwind Ijtema via Mangabai Pass/Mangarohi Nala.

The CTO said that Khawas Road and Sundar Road had been cleared for emergency vehicles. He also appealed to the participants to cooperate with the traffic wardens on duty.
