Why I salute General Raheel Sharif

He is the one who has taken up the responsibility of cleansing our homeland from all kinds of local and foreign terrorists and their masterminds. Such actions draw a clear line between the elites and the patriots and this is how our soldiers earn the trust of their fellow countrymen.

16 June 1956. The day a living legend came to this world. A man of steel, a four-star rank army general and the current (15th) Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army, Raheel Sharif.

General Raheel Sharif is the younger brother of Major Shabbir Sharif Rana Shaheed who was a brave Pakistani military officer who received both the Sitara-e-Jurat and Nishan-e-Haider for his bravery. Their father, Major (R) Sharif, was also an army officer. Raheel Sharif is also the nephew of Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider.

General Raheel Sharif has redefined military statesmanship by taking concrete steps towards a safer Pakistan, while digging in further to search and expose the hidden hands behind all kinds of criminal activities taking place in the country. He is a man who leads from the front. People love him, soldiers idealize him, and politicians are in awe of him. He is like a beam of light in the darkness to the people of Pakistan. He is a man on a mission: to bring the country’s corrupt to task and eradicate terrorism countrywide. He will leave behind a legacy for generations to be proud of.
Going all guns blazing in the fight against militancy, the parochial fight against the militants who are attacking the Pakistani state and society has made the chief Pakistan’s hero. It is believed that the general played a key role in presiding over a change of military thinking since 2007, under which the focus of the army's work is geared more towards fighting Taliban militants rather than confronting traditional arch-enemy India. General Raheel has played a big role in convincing the army that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and various militants inside Pakistan are as big a threat [as India].

The on-going operation in the crime-infested city of Karachi is yet another example of how Gen. Sharif can get things done systematically and without succumbing to any political influence. He is the one who has taken up the responsibility of cleansing our homeland from all kinds of local and foreign terrorists and their masterminds. Such actions draw a clear line between the elites and the patriots and this is how our soldiers earn the trust of their fellow countrymen.

Ultimate respect for the non-political, patriotic, committed, responsible COAS Gen Raheel Sharif. Some lines dedicated to the hero of nation:
Mein rahon naa rahon meri daastan sunai de gi yahan saadiyon tak,
Kay meri jaanisaari ki daastanon ka, is mitti ka zara zara gawahi dega.

(Whether I live or die, you will hear my story here for centuries,

Every ounce of this land will testify to my bravery)
