FAISALABAD-Armed bandits gunned down a 30-year-old prize bond dealer here outside State Bank in broad daylight and made off with a bag full of prize bonds and cash on Wednesday.
The police and Elite Force personnel deployed for the bank security remained busy ‘eating rice,’ making it easier for the bandits to escape the scene. The police reached the spot after an hour of the incident.
According to eye-witnesses, 30-year-old Asif Javed, resident of Masoodabad Street No-1 and owner of Al-Hamad prize bond agency at Rail Bazaar, came out of State Bank after buying prize bonds. In the meanwhile, armed bandits, riding a motorbike, snatched a bag full of prize bonds and cash from him. He, however, put up resistance at which the outlaws opened indiscriminate fire on him. Resultantly, he sustained bullet injuries and fell on the ground.
On information, Rescue 1122 rushed to the scene and shifted the injured trader to Civil Hospital where doctors made efforts to save his life. According to hospital sources, due to electricity loadshedding, the doctors had to carry out surgery of the trader with the help of cellphone torch lights but the injured could not survive. On the other hand, police reached the spot after an hour of the incident while the police and Elite Force personnel deployed at State Bank failed to tackle the situation. Eye-witnesses alleged that the Elite Force personnel remained busy eating rice and did not challenge the outlaws due to which they escaped from the scene with ease.
The citizens have protested against the rising crime rate, especially in Lyallpur Town circle. They criticised that despite deployment of heavy police force, robbery incident outside State Bank in broad daylight is making mockery of the police and is really challenging efficiency of the police high-ups.
