ISLAMABAD - The National Accountability Bureau Executive Board has authorised 17 corruption inquiries against different people, including former finance minister Ishaq Dar, former secretary to PM Fawad Hassan Fawad, Senator Rubina Khalid and others.
Chairman NAB Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal chaired a meeting at the NAB headquarters and also approved five investigations as well.
The NAB authorised first inquiry against Fawad Hassan Fawad over alleged misuse of power and embezzlement, causing a loss to the national exchequer. The second inquiry was launched against former finance minister Ishaq Dar, ex-minister IT and former Chairman Pakistan Telecom Authority Ismail Shah and others. The accused allegedly involved in illegal award of contract of the NGMS and caused a loss to the national kitty. The third inquiry was authorised against the government officials and others who made payment amounting to Rs480 billion in 2013 to end circular debt while violating the rules and regulations.
The NAB board launched the fourth inquiry against owners and directors of M/s Gardenine Limited in case of their alleged involvement in corruption. The fifth inquiry was authorised against the administration of Nelum Jhelum Project on a complaint of its alleged involvement in corruption and misuse of power. The sixth inquiry was authorised against former head of cardiology department Sheikh Zaid Medical Complex Lahore in case of his alleged misuse of power and embezzlement. The seventh inquiry was approved by NAB board against officials of Punjab Cardiology in case of corruption.
The NAB EB also authorised the eighth inquiry against former DG Anti Corruption Punjab and others over the allegation of lack of corporation with Bureau. The ninth inquiry was launched against DG Anti Corruption Punjab, Director Anti Corruption Sahiwal, Secretary C&W, SDO Building Public Health Department and Agriculture Department over the allegation of corruption. The 10th inquiry was authorised against officers of Nadren Power Plant Gujranwala on complaint of their involvement in corruption. NAB board approved the 11th inquiry against former Executive Director Aksi Mufti, Senator Rubina Khalid M/s Cosmos (pvt) Ltd and others. In this case, the accused persons were allegedly involved in awarding contracts to favourite companies and caused a loss to the national exchequer.
The 12th inquiry was authorised against officials of the Civil Aviation Authority and others over allegations of misuse of power and award of of contract for buying aeroplane equipment to their blue-eyed companies, causing a loss to the national kitty. The NAB approved 13th corruption inquiry against officers of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation and others in case of alleged corruption in development works of the OPF Housing Society.
The 14th inquiry was authorised against Mrs Sultan Guland and others over allegation of corruption and breach of trust. The 15th inquiry was launched by NAB against M/s Chenone (pvt) Ltd and others in case of fraud with people. The 16th inquiry was authorised against former provincial minister of Balochistan Muhammad Sadiq Ali Imran and others. The 17th inquiry was authorised against officers of Peshawar Metro Bus project over the allegations of embezzlement and misuse of power.
The NAB EB ordered the investigation against M/s Bharia Town over the allegations of illegal occupation in Thakt Pari and illegal occupation of land for New Murree Development Project. The NAB also approved investigations against CSP officer of Government Sindh Saqib Ahmed and officials of agriculture department of District Kashmor and others in a corruption case.
The NAB also launched investigation against former Chief Financial Officer Punjab Power Development Company Limited Lahore Naveed Akram, ex- Director Finance ERRA Islamabad and others in case of alleged embezzlement and misuse of power.
