MNOs asked to support SMEs promotion

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged the Multi National Organizations (MNOs) working in Pakistan to support the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) with their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for promotion and development of SMEs as SMEDA Board of Directors (BOD) has passed a resolution allowing SMEDA to seek CSR funds and collaboration of MNOs. In a meeting held at a local club with UNISAME officials, Syed Iqbal Kidwai General Manager SMEDA and Muslim Raza Rawjani Provincial Chief SMEDA, both stressed the need for contributions from MNOs for the promotion and development of SMEs and said SMEDA is training SMEs in various fields to enable them upgrade their units, improve their products and develop systems in accounting, inventory control, quality control, productivity, energy conservation, logistics and marketing. They said SMEDA is focusing on taking the SMEs to the next level by emphasizing and motivating SMEs to improve their units by balancing, modernization and replacement. President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver invited the MNOs to strengthen SMEDA. by contributing funds for SMEDA projects for SMEs capacity building, hand holding, incubation and training under their own supervision and their desired areas by arranging events, seminars, conferences and regular training programmes.
