Disabled persons’ day observed

Special persons took out a rally here on Wednesday in connection with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The rally started from DCO Office and ended at Shahbaz Chowk. Students of Government Special Education School were also among the participants.
In Rahim Yar Khan, a wheelchair race among disabled persons was organised to observe the day. District Sports Office Aser Pakistan, Idara Taleem-o-Aaghi, School for Special Persons, Anjuman Tajran Railway Road, Rotary Club Rohi, Hadi-e-Alam Welfare Society and Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital organized the event.
The race started from City Bridge on Shahi Road and concluded at GPO Chowk. Forty special persons participated in the contest. At the end of the race, a seminar was arranged at school of special persons.
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Prisons Ch Abdul Waheed disclosed on Wednesday that the provincial government was going to adopt special measures like launching MA classes for the special persons to offer them higher education opportunities.
Addressing the participants of Multan Special Persons Festival 2014 organized by City District Government, he added that the special persons brought fame and pride to the nation in all fields of life including sports despite their impairment.
District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal said that special children are precious asset of the nation and the district government would allocate portions of Bagh Langy Khan and Madni Park for them. He said that the disabilities could not prevent special children from bringing laurels home as they won big sports events abroad. Another minister said that the Punjab government is making efforts to facilitate special children so that they may become useful members of the society. Provincial Minister for Minerals Chaudhry Sher Ali was addressing a function held at Jinnah Hall Attock.
