Ex-justice Sardar Khan gunned down in Capital

ISLAMABAD Former Attorney General of Pakistan and retired Justice of Peshawar High Court, Muhammad Sardar Khan, was gunned down by unidentified attackers in Sector G-11 on Wednesday. Police sources said that Muhammad Sardar Khan was present in his daughters flat situated in Sector F/11 where an unknown couple telephoned him from the reception of the building around 3pm. The sources said that Sardar Khan met with the couple. Later, he was found dead on Ibne Sina Road at around 5pm. Some people claimed that Sardar Khan had received a phone call around 3pm and he went somewhere with unknown people in a car and later was found dead on Ibne Sina Road. According to police, Rescue 15 received a call around 5pm from someone who informed them that unidentified assailants were firing on a man on Ibne Sina Road. Rescue 15 team rushed to the spot and found a bullet-riddled body of a man who was later identified as Sardar Khan Advocate. Meanwhile, the attackers managed to escape from the scene. Later, the dead body was shifted to PIMS for autopsy. According to sources in PIMS, Sardar Khan received 13 bullets. It is relevant to note here that Muhammad Sardar Khan served as Advocate General of NWFP and currently he was doing legal practice in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had also appointed him as Amicus Curie (Friend of court) in the NRO case. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court Bar Association announced mourning day today against the killing.
