Lyari Expressway to be opened in third week of Jan

KARACHI - The track-2 of the Lyari Expressway track-2 will be inaugurated by the prime minister in the third week of this month, said the National Highway Authority (NHA) spokesman on Wednesday.

He said that Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) had completed its major projects in Sindh, and over 80 percent work on the Lyari Expressway had been completed.

The Nation has learnt that major projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)  are about to be completed in 2018, and the network of roads would play an important role in the economic development of the province.

Work on a three-lane Karachi-Thatta Dual Carriageway (KTDC) will also be completed in March or Apirl 2018.

Similarly, work on Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M-9), a 134-km long dual carriageway, along with bridges and interchanges, is also nearing completion, and hopefully would be inaugurated in February.

It is hoped that M-9 dual carriageway would prove to be instrumental for the economic progress of  Sindh.

Similarly, in order to connect Sindh with Balochistan, 151-km long Khuzdar-Shahdadkot road, divided into three sections, is almost complete, and would hopefully be opened for traffic in March 2018.

It is pertinent to mention here that the project was delayed after super floods in 2010 and the lack of funds.
