Pak players excel in British Junior Open Squash

ISLAMABAD - Pakistani juniors had a fantastic day at the Dunlop British Junior Open Squash Championship 2018, as all the Pakistanis won their opening round matches in different categories.

In U-15 category, M Ashab Irfan beat Emirhan Sen 3-0. Ashab won the first game 12-10, second 11-5 and third 11-5 to move into the second round while Junaid Khan beat Yannik Mahieu 3-0, 11-3, 11-5, 12-10. In U-17 category, Naveed Rehman beat Zach Marshall 3-1, 11-2, 9-11, 11-4, 11-6, Malik Abdul Moiez beat Harry Kitchen 3-1, 9-11, 11-3, 11-2, 14-12, Haris Qasim beat Bogdan Catalin 3-0, 11-2, 11-1, 11-1, Uzair Shoukat beat Ethan Kaye 3-0, 11-1, 11-0, 11-2 and M Farhan Hashmi beat Daniel Malek 3-1, 11-5, 10-12, 11-4, 11-6.

In U-19 category, Zeeshan Zeb beat Cameroon Haddow 3-0, 11-5, 11-9, 11-7 and Mansoor Zaman Junior beat Nathan Van Der Westhuzen 3-0, 11-2, 11-7, 11-9. In U-13, M Hamza Khan beat Rohan Sahota 3-0, 11-6, 11-4, 11-1.

Talking to The Nation from Birmingham, Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) secretary Group Captain Tahir Sultan, who is accompanying the team as manager, said: “It was great day for our juniors, as all the five Pakistanis won their opening day encounters in U-17, while they also won the U-15 and U-19 matches.”
