LAHORE - Inspector General Police Punjab and the CCPO offices received faxes with serious threats to target police buildings, residences of PML-N top leadership and some other important public offices in suicide attacks. The unidentified miscreants also gave an ultimatum of next 48 hours to vacate these buildings or face the blasts thus creating panic among the law enforcement agencies. It has been learnt reliably that the unknown miscreants have given warning of targeting three main cities of the province - Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan - in the next 48 hours. The hit list of the unknown terrorists also included Model Town and Raiwind residences of the PML-Nawaz leaders Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif besides Chief Ministers Secretariat, Governors House, Police Lines Qilla Gujjar Singh and the Provincial and Lahore police headquarters. Seeking anonymity, a senior police officer said that a team of police officers and computer experts had been constituted to trace the source from where the threatening messages were faxed to the Punjab and Lahore police headquarters. The police team ,however, failed to trace the location or the network used in this regard. About their failure in tracing, the fax number used by the unidentified people, the experts told the police high-ups that perhaps modern technology had been used in delivering the massage which was still inaccessible despite efforts. The police officer termed it a first serious threat given by the terrorists after the suicide attack, which had completely blown up the Rescue 15 building and partially the ISI headquarters on May 27. The threatening message sent by the unidentified people also left a message for the police officers and inmates of the targeted buildings to stay away from these buildings to avoid greater loss, the police officer said. 'I think it is not just a warning as the prank callers or the miscreants used to give. The prompt police reaction to these threats shows that there is something seriously wrong, the police officer said. He further said 90-Shahra-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Shahra-e-Fatima Jinnah, and The Mall were being the prime focus of the law enforcement agencies where high security measures after the threats of the terrorists had been adopted. The office-bearers of the nearby markets are being asked to close their business for at least next few days as the law enforcing agencies need the surroundings of the targeted buildings clear from free public movement as well as the traffic to avert any mishap, as being apprehended.
