PPP decides on Zardari, Bilawal and Asifa’s constituency for elections

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has decided on constituencies from which former president Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asifa Bhutto Zardari plan to contest from in the upcoming general elections, a local media outlet reported on Sunday.

PPP officials confirmed that Bilawal will contest the elections from Larkana while Asif Ali Zardari will do so from Nawabshah.

Asifa is expected to contest for the National Assembly from Karachi, said an official, adding that the near-unanimous decision was made during meeting of the party’s central election board at Bilawal House.

While the constituency from which Asifa will contest has not yet been revealed, analysts believe that she may contest from Lyari from where Benazir Bhutto, her mother, had gained victory in 1988. Zardari had also won from the same constituency in the 1990 elections.

An official from the party said that the PPP is set to contest from all seats in Karachi and would prefer to field younger candidates. The names of the candidates are currently being finalised, the official added.

On the other hand, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is all set to contest from the NA-200 constituency in Larkana.
