Rawalpindi - Assistant Commissioner Murree Muhammad Iqbal Sanghera Chairman District Overseas Pakistanis Committee evacuated some 12 kanals of land of a US national from the clutches of land mafia in Sambli Behra Mall, informed a spokesman of district government here on Thursday. The operation against land mafia was carried out by district government under supervision of Chairman District Overseas Pakistanis Committee Basit Shakeel Hashmi, he added. A case was also lodged against the land grabbers with police.
According to him, a complainant namely Muzaffar Javed, US national, approached District Overseas Pakistanis Committee chairman stating he purchased a piece of land measuring 12 kanals in Mouza Sambli Behra Mall in 2005. The overseas Pakistani added a notorious land mafia grabbed his plot. He requested the Chairman Basit Shakeel Hashmi to take action against the land grabbers and to retrieve his precious land.
On this, the matter was brought into notice of AC Murree Iqbal Ahmed Sanghera checked the record and found that land mafia prepared bogus registries to grab the land. Taking action, Chairman Basit Shakeel Hashmi along with district administration of Murree including Hassan Hameedi, Aftab Naz, member of ADCR Office and relatives of complainant paid a visit to the land, whereas, AC Iqbal Ahmed Sanghera and enforcement department restrained the construction work on the site.
Later, the enforcement department demolished illegal construction and freed the land from the grabbers. The value of land is said to be Rs 350 million.
The US national thanked Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, District Overseas Pakistanis Committee Chairman Basit Shakeel Hashmi and AC Murree Muhammad Iqbal Sanghera for resolving the issues of overseas Pakistanis on priority basis.
