CJ directs PPOs to recover abducted girls

ISLAMABAD Taking notice of rising kidnapping incidents, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday directed the Provincial Police Officers of Punjab and NWFP to recover two abductees and produce them before the sessions judges of their respective districts. He also directed the authorities concerned to furnish reports within two weeks accordingly. The Chief Justice issued these directives on two separate applications moved by Amirullah of Karak (NWFP) and Noor Muhammad of Sargodha (Punjab). The daughters of both Amirullah and Noor were kidnapped in broad daylight. The complainants, who provided copies of their applications to this scribe, also accused the police of backing the culprits and turning down their requests for justice without mentioning any solid reason. They said they regularly visited police stations to register FIRs but returned homes hopelessly. Police are doing nothing to recover our abducted family members, they added. Amirullah, through an application, informed the court that some unknown persons abducted his daughter when she was on her way to home from school. He requested the Chief Justice to pass an order to recover all the kidnapped persons across the country. Taking notice of another similar complaint of Noor, the Chief Justice directed the authorities concerned to record the statement of kidnapped after recovering her and submit the report within two weeks. The complainant informed the court that Manzoor Hussain had kidnapped his young daughter and shifted her to unidentified place, while the police had not even lodged an FIR in this regard.
