Meeting pledges to reduce mother, child mortality


LAHORE – The participants of a meeting on Monday renewed pledge to adopt necessary measures, including procurement, monitoring, evaluation and accountability on regular basis, to achieve the targets of child immunisation and reduce mother and child mortality.
The provincial review meeting of all executive district officers (health) was convened by Health Director General Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema at the Directorate General of Health Services.
EPI Program Manager Dr Tanveer Hamd, MNCH Programme Manager Dr Zafar Ikram, Health Sector Reforms Programme Manager Dr Amjad Shahzad, CDC Programme Manager Dr Mubashar Malik and Dengue Control Programme Manager Dr Jafar Ilyas presented provincial analysis regarding the achievement of targets of various health programmes.
It was decided that funds allocated for PMDG would be used to procure medicine and medical equipments to provide safe normal delivery and C-Section facilities in the remote areas. The chair assured technical coordination support to district officers for smooth service delivery.
It was also decided that all EDOs would randomly evaluate the EPI coverage in two union councils of every tehsil, assure active dengue larvae surveillance, prompt action for dengue case response and put in maximum efforts to make the people aware regarding identification of potential dengue breeding sites and their removal.
Dr Nisar Cheema appreciated role of district health offices in observance of the Anti-Dengue Day. The executive district officers (health) assured implementation of the decisions in letter and spirit and regularly share reports with the health director general. Polio Technical Focal Person Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry and WHO’s Deboher also addressed the meeting and shared updates.
