ANF arrests 2 foreigners among 13

Rawalpindi - The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized narcotics during operations against drug mafia and held 13 smugglers, including 2 foreign nationals, informed ANF spokesman here on Tuesday.
He added that four vehicles have also been impounded by the force during action. According to him, the ANF recovered 16.5-kg heroin, 18.6-kg hashish and 7.2-kg opium in 8 operations launched across the country. During the operations, the ANF also arrested 13 drug traffickers. The worth of recovered drugs is approximately Rs 159.5 million in international market, he added.
He said that ANF Rawalpindi airport team in collaboration with ASF detained a passenger Syed Tariq Hussain, resident of Peshawar, and recovered 7.2-kg heroin during search of his luggage. He was boarding for Abidjan via Qatar by Qatar Airline flight number QR-617. Similarly, ANF Rawalpindi on information-based operation seized a drug carrier named Fahad, resident of Charsadda, along with recovery of 5-kg hashish. He was taken into custody from Faizabad bus stop, Rawalpindi. As per reports, the accused arrived from Peshawar to hand over drug to some local peddler. The ANF held Muzamil Shah and his lady accomplice namely Razia Perveen, residents of Mardan, along with recovery of 2.4-kg hashish from their possession. They were arrested near Ghausia Bus Stand, Pirwadhai Morr. As per preliminary investigations, they came from Peshawar to hand over drugs to some local peddler at Rawalpindi. The ANF Rawalpindi in another operation conducted near Kohinoor Mills recovered 7.2-kg opium and 3.3-kg hashish from the possession of two accused including Aman Ullah Khan and Rehman Gul, residents of Khyber Agency. The spokesman said that ANF during routine road checking near Mianwali intercepted 2 cars and recovered 4-kg heroin. Three occupants of the car were taken into custody. The ANF Peshawar arrested a local drug supplier namely Zubair Hussain Shah, a local resident. His arrest resulted in recovery of 1.9-kg hashish. ANF Peshawar airport team arrested a Nigerian national named Onyeazonwa Martins accompanied by a Zambian Lady Tendo Vevah on suspicion of carrying drugs. During search of their luggage, 5.3-kg heroin was seized.
Cases have been registered against all the detainees at respective police stations and further investigations are under process, the spokesman informed.
