Minor among five killed in accidents

LAHORE Five people including a minor along with his mother succumbed to wounds in separate road accidents in the provincial capital on Saturday. Police said a woman Farzana Bibi along with her three minor children including Rehman, Faizan and Zeshan was standing at a bus stand near Bhandara Centre in Icchra police limits when a speeding land cruiser (LEH-5567) crushed the family as a result of which they suffered multiple wounds. The locals gathered on the spot, however, shifted them to the Mayo Hospital where the doctors pronounced Farzana and Rehan dead while the condition of others was told serious till filing of this report. The deceased was identified the resident of Jallu Village. The locals also overpowered the accused driver and handed him over to the police, which registered a case against him on the statement of Mohammad Ashraf, husband of the deceased. Meanwhile, a 40-year-old factory worker M Ashraf was crossing the road near Bajian stand in Raiwind City when a car hit him resultantly he suffered severe injuries. The driver along with his car managed to flee from the crime scene while the wounded person was rushed to a nearby hospital where he breathed his last. In another incident, a 35-year-old Adnan died after being hit by a car near Munshi Hospital. Senior vice president WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labour Union Agha Badaru Salam Abdali died in another accident in Samanabad police area. General Secretary of the union Khursheed Ahmed and others expressed their grieve and sorrow over the sad demise and prayed for the departed soul. Police concerned later registered a case against the unidentified accused driver with no arrest so far. Further investigation is underway.
