A necessity

Pakistani police is being governed under rules and regulations which were devised more than 150 years ago and from a colonial mindset. It is unfortunate that in more than 60 years of independence we have been unable to implement a concrete mechanism, which could replace the Police Act 1861 and assist in making the police a more citizen friendly department. Efforts made in this regard have never been fully implemented and the incumbent administrations have never seemed to be serious on this particular subject. It is imperative that given the current volatile security situation, where conflict has engulfed the entire country, efforts should be made towards the reformation of police department.
