COAS attends funeral of Swat martyrs

PESHAWAR - Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday attended the joint funeral prayers of 11 security personnel, including a captain, martyred in a suicide blast in Swat on Saturday. According to the ISPR, the KP Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Corps Commander Peshawar and other senior civil and military officials were also present at the prayers held here.

Later, General Bajwa visited the CMH Hospital in Peshawar and inquired after the health of those injured in the Swat blast.  The suicide bomber had targeted a sports area of the army unit in Swat's Kabal Tehsil on Saturday evening, that claimed lives of 11 security personnel including a captain and left 13 others injured.

CAPTAIN LAID TO REST

Staff Reporter from Kohat adds: Martyred Captain Nawabzada Jazib Rehman was laid to rest in the graveyard of KDA Kohat with complete military honours.  According to details, one officer and 11 jawans of Pakistan Army were martyred and 13 others sustained injuries in the suicide attack on the Army Unit in Swat. According to details, the martyred captain was playing volleyball with the jawans in the military unit ground.  His funeral prayer was held at Kohat Sports Complex KDA. Those who attended the funeral of the Shaheed Captain Jazib Rehman included GOC Koat 9 Div, officials of Military and Civil Administrations relatives and a larger number of local people.
