Voters’ verification in Rawalpindi to complete by April 30

Rawalpindi-First phase of voters’ verification for general election aimed at checking new national identity card holders and deceased voters in Rawalpindi district would be completed by February 8.

Sources in the office of Rawalpindi Election Commissioner said that efforts were being made to complete the process by April 30, which had started on January 15. Door-to-door voters’ verification process is being completed to finalise arrangements for general election 2018, the sources added.

As many as 29 assistant registration officers and 2,221 verification officers have been assigned to complete the task. At present, over 2.95 million voters have been registered in the district including 1.57 million men and 1.37 million women, the sources said.

The data entry of verified NIC holders and deceased voters and adjustment of affected census blocks at district level will be completed from February 9 to 18, while the data processing and printing of updated electoral rolls will be completed within next 15 days, from February 19 to March 5, they said.

The verified voters’ lists will be displayed at the display centres to be set up at prominent places including offices of registration officers, assistant registration officers and display centres at circle level in the district for around a month from March 6 to April 4, while 40 days would be given for disposal of objections and applications for corrections, which can be submitted from March 6 to April 14. The final lists will be displayed on April 30 at the District Election Commissioner office, the sources said.

During the campaign, special focus is being given to registration of women, persons with disabilities and transgender individuals, they said.
