Pakistani nation united over Kashmir issue: Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed

Indian troops have broken all records of barbarity in occupied Kashmir, says federal interior minister

Rawalpindi   -  Federal Minister on Interior Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Thursday said Indian troops have broken all the records of barbarity and atrocities in occupied Kashmir.

“Kashmiris are facing suppression at the hands of Indian army, whereas, Modi administration has been attempting to turn the Muslim majority into a minority,” he said. The Kashmiri students are fully active to free Kashmir from bloody clutches of India, he said.

The federal minister expressed these views while addressing a function at Government Post Graduate Viqar un Nisa College for Women to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day here on Thursday.

He was flanked by PTI MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafique and other leaders.

Addressing the fiction, Sheikh Rasheed said that Pakistani nation was united over Kashmir issue and they wanted to solve the issue as per the aspirations of innocent Kashmiris.

He urged the international community to play their role to stop human right violations in the Indian held Kashmir. “Modi government is making effort to make demographic changes in the valley and it is violation of the UN resolution,” he said.

The minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan raised the voice of innocent Kashmiris in front of comity of nations in exemplary manners.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Interior Minister, announced that Government Postgraduate Viqar un Nisa College for Women would be upgraded to the status of university this year. He also announced a grant of Rs50 million for college hostel. It may be mentioned here that it will be third women university in Rawalpindi if the college gets status of the university. After Fatima Jinnah Women University, the Interior Minister managed to get the status of university for the Government Women College 6th Road last year.

Later, the minister, while talking to media men, said both PPP and PML-N were violating their commitment to the charter of democracy by opting for undemocratic moves.

He also advised JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman to part his ways with the PDM and advised him to contest Senate elections.

He said PPP and PML-N had signed Charter of Democracy in 2006 but now their actions are against it.

He added Maulana Fazlur Rehman should contest Senate elections from where he wants and it will settle down his anger and stress.

In response to a query, the federal minister said that he would respond to the decision of PDM regarding the long march and no confidence move at Lal Haveli.

About the expected resignations of opposition from the Parliament, he expressed hope that the opposition parties would not resign from the Parliament and their agitation would be limited to long march and no confidence move against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said that those who were giving threats of resigns from the Parliament should review their decisions as the resigns would not bring any change but create some problems for democracy and democratic system.

On the other hand, he informed the opposition that sit-in in front of Parliament and long marches would not topple the governments. While giving example of Imran Khan’s PTI sit-in in 2014, the minister said, “We along with Imran Khan staged sit-in in front of Parliament for 126 days but failed to oust then Nawaz Sharif led government.”

He said that the PTI government was going to complete its three year tenure and it had only one year to deliver because the fifth year will be for election campaign.  The only panacea of all problems in the politics is in table talks and dialogue process is basic part of the democracy. There is no dead end in politics and democracy will strengthen through dialogue process, said Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed.

He said that the government tabled new legislation to end the involvement of money in the Senate elections and the opposition should support it. He said that the basic aim of the amendment was that Prime Minister Imran Khan wanted that the elections could not be sold again.

To a question about his contacts with PPP, Federal Minister on Interior Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that he had no contact with PPP but in the meantime he congratulated Asif Ali Zardari on Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari’s wedding and prayed for her good start to a new life.
