Najia’s mother injured while resisting robbery

LAHORE - Armed bandits brutally tortured the mother of Najia Baig, co-host of comedy show of a private news channel, on offering resistance during daylight robbery in Johar Town on Wednesday.
Police sources said the parents of Najia were busy in shopping when two motorcyclists held them up at gunpoint in front of Amman Center and demanded cash and jewelry.
As the couple offered resistance, one of the bandits hit Najia’s mother in the head with the butt of a pistol. They snatched cash and gold ornaments and fled on their two-wheeler. The injured woman was rushed to a hospital, where her condition was said to be stable though she got six stitches in the head.
Police have registered a case and are investigating with no arrest made yet.
Three more arrested in
honour killing case
Three more men have been arrested in connection with the brutal killing of Farzana Bibi, who was bludgeoned to death outside Lahore High Court by her family members, a Lahore police spokesman said Wednesday.
Those arrested were identified as of Zahid Ali and Ghulam Ali, brothers of Farzana, and Mazhar Iqbal, her alleged former husband.
Last week, Farzana was battered to death outside the court by more than 20 family members for contracting marriage with the man of her choice. Following the latest arrests, there are 13 accused in police custody including Mohammad Azeem, father of Parveen.
Police sources said the investigators would present a detailed report about the incident before the Lahore High Court on Thursday (today).
