Over 0.2 million people vaccinated across country in one day: Asad Umar

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Wednesday said that record-breaking over 200,000 coronavirus vaccines doses were administered yesterday (Tuesday).

Asad Umar, who also heads National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said that registrations for the coronavirus vaccines have picked pace and so far, over 5 million people have signed up for the jabs.

The planning minister also urged people 40 and older should register for the coronavirus vaccine but stressed that government guidelines regarding the virus should not be ignored.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 119 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 841,636. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 18,429 on Tuesday.

According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 4,113 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Pakistan has conducted 44,838 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 4,113 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 9.17 percent.
