71,500 life-saving drugs unregistered

LAHORE - Out of 81500, 10000 life-saving drugs are registered with Drug Regulatory Authority of f Pakistan (Drap).

Sources say that FIA’s Corporate Crime Circle has initiated probe against drugs available in the Pakistani markets whose price exceeds Rs100,000 as same products are being sold in neighbouring India at relatively lower price.

The agency summoned all record from DRAP in this regard and got to knowing drug companies are setting high prices in the market in connivance with Drap Pricing & Registration Department officials.

Before FIA director Ch Ijaz, DRAP Pricing & Registration director Amanullah confessed to the absence of complete record of all drug-making companies.

Heading a delegation to Turkey for holding road-show, Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education (SH&ME) Khawaja Salman Rafique has said the government was committed to providing excellent healthcare faculties to masses under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

SH&ME Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah gave a detailed presentation to the delegates and highlighted the reform agenda being pursued by Specialized HealthCare & Medical Education Department.

At present, a five-member delegation of Punjab government is visiting Turkey to conduct road-shows for PPP project that is a very lucrative project in terms of investment and government has shown its utmost commitment to embark upon new era of development of health infrastructure through PPP projects.

The current project would be followed initially tertiary care hospitals at Divisional Headquarter and later on in districts under different PPP modes, SH&ME Secretary added.

While the PHIMC (Punjab Health Initiative Management Company)  executing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, CEO Zaheer  Abbas Malik also made a detailed presentation to the forum  highlighting salient features of the project 'Setting up minimum  500 beds hospital at Johar Town Lahore under PPP'.

The delegates showed great interest in the investment   opportunities in Pakistan particularly while in health and

Punjab more specifically.
