Rana Zia urges PM to save Pakistan football

LAHORE - Former Punjab Football Association (PFA) Vice President Rana Zia Ur Rehman has urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to intervene in the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) matter and save Pakistan football from further decline. In his appeal on Monday, Rana Zia has requested PM Imran Khan and IPC Minister Dr Fehmida Mirza to vacate the FIFA Football House in Lahore from the occupiers and hand it over to FIFA-installed Normalisation Committee led by Haroon Malik. “The attack and taking over of the FIFA House by Ashfaq Hussain Group has been bringing bad name to the country across the world and Pakistan football is also on verge of possible FIFA ban. The ultimate sufferers will be no one else but Pakistani footballers and match officials, who have been suffering long since the PFF elections issue in 2015. “Pakistani footballers deserve better treatment and facilities, who are suffering due to power game of a few people. Their futures are also at stake as they cannot take part in any international tournament, if FIFA bans Pakistan. It is the dire need of the hour to think positively about future of Pakistan football and footballers and let them serve the country in the best possible manner,” he added. Rana Zia said that it is the right time when the PM and IPC Minister must use their powers and authorities and not only get the PFF Headquarters vacated from the occupiers but also give proper time to the Haroon Malik-led Normalisation Committee to start work immediately on their real mandate of holding PFF elections timely in a fair and transparent manner, so that the real stakeholders may come forward and run the Pakistan football affairs professionally and take it to new heights.
