Sanjrani for promoting Pak-Iran economic coop

Meets Iranian President in Tehran  

ISLAMABAD   -  Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani on Thursday said that long-standing religious, cultural and social ties between Pakistan and Iran need to be made the basis for economic cooperation and trade promotion.  

Sanjrani expressed these views during a meeting with the newly-elected President of Iran Dr. Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran, said a statement issued by the Senate Secretariat. 

The Chairman Senate is on a visit to Iran to represent Pakistan at the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President. Sanjrani accompanied by a parliamentary delegation of Senate called on the Iranian President.  

He conveyed a message of good wishes from the President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Parliament and the people of Pakistan to Ebrahim Raisi on his election as President of Iran and assured all possible cooperation for further development of bilateral relations.  

The two leaders also discussed issues being faced by the Muslim Ummah, especially the Kashmir and Palestine. Chairman Senate said that international community must play a proactive role in supporting Kashmiris’ right of self-determination and preventing Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. 

The Iranian President said that obstacles towards promotion of regional trade would be removed and the problems in the uninterrupted supply of electricity to the areas of Balochistan would be resolved immediately.
