Lucky Cement’s mangroves plantation drive

KARACHI (PR): Lucky Cement Limited organized an ‘Employee Volunteer’ activity in collaboration with WWF Pakistan. The activity was organized at the WWF Wetland Center, Sandspit in which employees of the company planted mangroves saplings. The main objective of this activity was to create awareness about the mangroves ecosystem, inculcate company’s philosophy of socially-responsibility in the.

Australian HC greets scholarship recipients
ISLAMABAD (PR): The Australian High Commissioner, Mr Peter Heyward, congratulated 58 Pakistani professionals who have been awarded scholarships to undertake Masters level study at Australian Universities in 2014 through the Australia Awards.
The recipients will soon depart to take up their studies at some of Australia’s top universities. A total of 83 Pakistani professionals have been selected to undertake training in Australia in 2014 for masters (58) and short course awards (25).
Another 24 short course awards will be offered in the field of irrigation and water resource management in 2014.

UBL donates Rs5m for FCC scholarships
LAHORE (PR): United Bank presented a cheque of Rs 5 million on behalf of Sir Anwar Pervez, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBL and Chairman of Bestway Group, UK to Forman Christian College (A Chartered University). The donation funds the Bestway Scholarships at Forman Christian College University. The cheque was presented by Ali Hasnain, Group Executive of UBL, to Charles Ramsey, Academic Director of the Centre for Dialogue and Action at FCC.

Mobilink to introduce WhatsApp-based services
LAHORE (PR): VimpelCom Ltd announced a partnership with WhatsApp Inc., the operator of WhatsApp application and services, to deliver consumer offers based on the WhatsApp application and services for VimpelCom customers around the world.
The partnership with WhatsApp will enable Mobilink to provide enhanced internet communication services within its bundled tariff plans, and to drive mobile internet usage and revenues.

CM’s zeal to resolve issues of disabled welcomed
LAHORE (PR): Pakistan Association for Disabilities in Learning (PADIL) has welcomed the Chief Minister Punjab’s zeal to resolve problems of special persons.
Chairperson PADIL Ashba Kamran appreciated the Chief Minister Punjab’s resolve of not terming the special persons as ‘disabled’ because they have more capacities than the normal persons.
She said the Punjab government should constitute a committee of Urdu professors and senior media persons to coin a new word for special persons, as society takes the word disabled as a stigma and parents remain in a state of denial towards accepting that their child is a special person.

Emirates Airline arrives in Afghanistan
KARACHI (PR): Emirates commenced its newest service, to Kabul the capital of Afghanistan. Emirates flight EK 640 touched down in Kabul International Khwaja Rawash Airport.
The flight was greeted on its arrival in Kabul by a senior delegation from Afghanistan including; Dr Daoud Ali Najafi, Minister of Transport Afghanistan; Captain Hamid Zaher Ustaz, Technical and Operations Deputy Minister; Ghulam Nabi Farahi, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture and Tourism; H.E. Malik Quraishi, Chief of Staff, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Allahnoor Sailab - Area Manager Afghanistan, Emirates.
Kabul is the 138th destination on the Emirates route network, and Afghanistan is the 78th country it serves.
