DERA GHAZI KHAN - A huge number of contraceptive devices, which are government property and not for sale, have been marketed and selling under the nose of Population Welfare Department Punjab.
Corrupt personnel of the department are selling Malaysian condom namely Carex of batch No 15N2944, 15N2889, 15N2938 and 15N2911. The contraceptive devices are being sold openly and fearlessly to some businessmen in DG Khan. They supply these condoms packed in snack packs to the shops located at Sabzi Mandi Market. From there, the snack packets with condoms are supplied in villages of the district.
In villages, shopkeepers sell out these snack packets with condoms to children at rate of five rupees per packet. This malpractice is harming the social values and promoting unethical activities in the society.

To a question, he said that condoms have attraction for sale of snacks in villages. He also admitted that condoms are often misused in villages.
When approached, trader Aamir Imran at wholesale market said that a local resident namely Aslam Ansari supplies these snacks bags to the market. These snacks are prepared at domestic level in city as small business.
District Officer Population Welfare Department Huma Mehdi Leghari admitted that it was malpractice of some black sheep of the department because “Carex” is official property and not for sale.
Regarding batch numbers of condoms, he claimed that his office has not received these batches of the device. Concerned record of warehouse of the department at Karachi could explain the issuance of these batches.
