KARACHI - Pakistan Muslim League –Functional (PML-F) leaders have demanded the ruling provincial government resolve sugarcane growers issue on immediate basis instead shifting the bars of responsibility toward federal government.

PML-F leaders Nusrat Sher Abassi and Sardar Raheem made this demand while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club (KPC) here on Friday. PML-F others leaders were also present on the occasion.

Sher who is also Member of Sindh Assembly while criticising Provincial government said that PPP during last ten years failed to address the issue of people. She said that sugarcane growers were being left in miserable situation and provincial government using delay tactics in finalising the rates fixed by apex court. Terming the entire episode contempt of court, she said that provincial rulers instead of resolving issue shifting the bar of responsibility towards federal government.

Sher said that it is regrettable that teachers those hold a respectable position in the society across the world was tortured during demonstration against Sindh government. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhuttoo Zardari should halt statement based politics and move himself among the people as his Mother Benazir Bhutto and Grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto did, suggested Sher.

She further said that after 26th November public gathering in Sukkur, the people of Sindh were eyeing towards the Grand Democratic Alliance with hope that the alliance would play its due role in resolving the key issues of province. PML-Functional was the first political force which raised the issue of sugar cane growers she said adding that delay in crushing process caused losses to growers and they should be compensated in this regard too.

PML-F leader said that PPP Zardari owns majority of Sugar Mills in province and delay in crushing process has confirmed that he is a real beneficiary. Courts were taking suo-motto notice on various issues of province and it seems like there is no governance in Sindh, PPP is taking province towards constitutional crisis, she added.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Raheem pointed out towards various key issues of the Karachi and demanded the ruling government to empower Local government as it is the only way to bring the people from the municipal crisis.
