LAHORE - The Nation Editor-in-Chief Dr Majid Nizami has said that the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust has been upholding the tradition of acknowledging services of the legends.
“The Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust has, since long, been conferring titles on those who render outstanding services for the country,” said Dr Nizami at a ceremony held at the Aiwan-i-Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan to confer “Pisar-i-Pakistan” (Son of Pakistan) title on Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Vice Chairman Professor Dr Rafique Ahmad.
The ceremony was organised by the Majlis-i-Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan. The personages attending the event included, Majlis-i-Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan President Col (r) Jamshaid Ahmad Tareen, CPNE President Mujeebur Rehman Shami, former Law Minister SM Zafar, the eminent author and columnist Begum Bushra Rehman, Begum Mehnaz Rafi, Col (r) Ikram Ullah Khan, Maj-Gen (r) Rahat Lateef, Professor Dr Parveen Khan, Dr Ajmal Niazi, Pir Ejaz Hashmi, Qayyum Nizami, Dr Farzana Nazir, Mian Ibrahim Tahir, Maulana Shafi Josh, Aziz Zafar Azad, Justice (r) Munir Ahmad Mughal, Hanif Shahid beside a number of people from different walks of life. Shahid Rashid conducted the proceedings of the sitting.
Continuing his presidential address, Dr Majid Nizami termed Dr Rafique Ahmad teacher of the teachers. “By accepting the title, he has given the NPT an honour. At the age of 86, he participates in every activity that promotes the cause of Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust,” Nizami added.
Dr Rafique Ahmad observed that he was greatly impacted by the Pakistan Movement as a young boy and attended the historic Muslim League session at which the Pakistan Resolution was passed on March 23, 1947. He said he legally assisted in establishing the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust on the request of Dr Majid Nizami.
“We must continue our resilient struggle for the transformation of Pakistan into a modern Islamic, welfare and democratic state where all the activities reflect the will of Allah,” Dr Rafique added.
Begum Bushra Rehman congratulated and lauded Dr Nizami for recognising the services of those who have consistently been striving for the promotion of the ideology of Pakistan and highlighting the impeccable personalities of the Quaid-i-Azam, Allama Iqbal and the Madar-i-Millat.
She said the tradition of conferring titles on great personalities was initiated by Hameed Nizami who bestowed the title of Madar-i-Millat on Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah. She prayed that Dr Majid Nizami and Dr Rafique Ahmad may be blessed with long life and good health.
SM Zafar paid tribute to Dr Rafique Ahmad. He said: “Man can rise above the human weaknesses and fallibilities by ignoring the flaws in his fellow human beings.” He also remarked that no developed country was being ruled by feudal, factory owners and capitalists. The common man’s fortune can’t be changed by these elements, he opined.
