ATTOCK
The Pakistanis whose relatives also live in India demanded relaxation in visa policy by the neighbouring country so that they could easily visit their relatives residing in different parts of the country.
Because of unnecessary hurdles, only 8 to 10 people could travel to India by Dosti Bus which has the capacity of almost 50 passengers, they regretted. They demanded that the prime minister should intervene and have dialogue with his Indian counterpart to resolve the issue.
Syed Raza Haider Naqvi, one of the Attock-based people who recently visited India and faced many problems, said the Indian government does not timely issue visas thereby creating lots of problems for those intending to visit India to see their relatives residing there.
He added, "Because of the restrictions, we cannot timely reach India to see our relatives especially in wedding ceremonies and obituaries.
The process of verification of visas by Indian authorities is lengthy which must be made easy and convenient."
He detailed, "A month ago when I went to India, there were only eight passengers on board Dosti Bus and while coming back only 11 passengers were travelling on the bus having the capacity of 50 passengers. And this all is because of India's police of not giving visas to Pakistanis."
