A patients worry

I am a chronic diabetic and cardiac patient. I went through a by-pass surgery couple of years back from Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Lahore. Since then I used to buy my insulin from the said hospital on subsidized rates, a source of great financial relief for white collared patients like me. But for the past few months this subsidy has been withdrawn which has multiplied our problems financially and physically as there is no cheaper alternate to insulin, a life saving drug. The Chief Minister Punjab, for the convenience of the patients and their attendants had generously ordered free parking at all the government hospitals which is seen implemented in letter and spirit at the PIC parking. If for the sake of the deserving patients the parking fee is restored, on nominal rates, and the money so collected is spent on providing insulin on subsidized rates it would serve a greater purpose for saving life of thousands of poor diabetic patients and giving them a ray of hope and sigh of relief. I hope the CM would look into this matter seriously. MICHAEL KAROLUS, Lahore, May 5.
