LAHORE - Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik of the Lahore High Court on Monday directed Anti-Corruption Establishment to complete a pending inquiry against Punjab University Vice Chancellor allegedly involved in issuing fake degrees to former parliamentarian Sumaira Malik and Abdul Qadir Gillani, son of former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani.
As proceedings started, the chancellor’s counsel said that the ACE initiated baseless inquiry against his client. He said his client had no role in alleged issuance of fake degrees.
He asked court to set aside inquiry proceedings.
On other side, Prof Mahmood through his counsel accused the VC of committing massive misappropriation and he wanted to produce evidences before the ACE. He sought direction for the ACE to include him in the inquiry.
During the course of hearing, the counsel representing ACE told the court that the inquiry would be conducted on the directions of the SC and would be completed soon. After hearing the arguments, the judge adjourned further proceedings till June 06 and directed ACE to complete inquiry against PU VC.
