ISLAMABAD-A team of Koral police along with complainants of a murder case have allegedly misbehaved with the women and ransacked the house of a suspected killer during a raid at Bagh Jogian here on Wednesday, informed sources. The police team and the complainants allegedly disconnected and grabbed the CCTV cameras and the DVRs from the house besides taking the three persons into custody, who were not even involved or mentioned in murder case registered with Police Station Koral. The family of suspected killer identified as Ashfar alleged that police raided their house in violation of orders of Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued by Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri on April 7, 2021 in which he (Justice) barred police from harassing women or arresting any irrelevant person. The family also alleged police not only picked up three irrelevant persons from the home during raid but also misbehaved and harassed women. The detained persons have been identified as Ameer Ahmed, Malik Mumraiz and Nasir, they said.
The victim family said police along with the three members of complainant party not only entered their houses without permission, but also misbehaved with women in the absence of targeted male member. The family said the police and complainants cut wires of CCTV cameras and took away DVRs and cameras. “The complainants also resorted to aerial firing in the house to terrorise the family of murder suspect,” they said. A family-member revealed a cop left magazine of his official pistol in their house while ransacking the households and breaking doors.
The victim family appealed Chief Justice IHC Justice Athar Minullah and IG Islamabad Qazi Jamil Ur Rehman to hold inquiry into incident and to take action against cops involved in misbehaving with women.
Station House Officer (SHO) PS Koral SI Shaukat, however, when contacted by The Nation, said police raided the house to arrest suspects including Ashfar involved in killing of Abdul Salam and injuring Siraj Ul Haq and Muhammad Shafique over a land dispute in Kanati village.
He said IHC had not restrained police from raiding house of murder suspect. “We raided house to arrest Ashfar but had not misbehaved with family or detained any person,” said SHO. He also denied a cop left magazine of an official pistol in house of suspected killer during raid.
