8 miscreants remanded into police custody

LAHORE - An anti-terrorism court here on Monday handed over eight workers of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) to police on a 14-day remand for their alleged involvement in ransacking and damaging public and private properties during the protests on Friday against the Supreme Court’s decision in the Asia Bibi case.
The South Cantonment police produced the accused before the court of Sheikh Sajjad and requested for grant of physical remand on the ground of further investigation.
The investigating officer told the court that the suspects also thrashed and injured the police persons in addition to tearing apart their uniform on the protest day when they had torched and vandalized public and the private properties including shops and vehicles. He said the suspects had been identified through Close Circuit camera shoots and mobile videos by citizens when they were on the rampage.
The IO stated that custody of the suspects was required for investigation and arrest of other suspects involved in the violent protests. He asked the court to grant 15-day physical remand of the suspects.
The court, however, allowed the police 14-day physical remand of the suspects, including Ishtiaq, Imran, Afzal, Farhan, Jahanzeb, Danyal and Majid.
Mansha: An anti-terrorism court yesterday remanded the alleged land grabber Mansha Bomb and his son Asim Mansha to police custody for one day in another case of illegal occupation of the private land in Johar Town.
Both the father and the son are already on physical remand in six cases of land grabbing and attacking government officials.
The police accused them of grabbing land of different individuals worth millions of rupees besides attacking anti-encroachment squads of the Lahore Development Authority.
Mansha Bomb had surrendered before the Supreme Court at Islamabad as he went underground after police lodged cases against him.
