Foreign element conspiring to break Pakistan: Zardari

Declares PML-N leaders anti-Pakistan

LAHORE - The PPP-P President Asif Ali Zardari Monday said that Pakistan was in great danger as he saw a conspiracy to break the country.

“The world wants to break Pakistan. But we will fight…We have given a pledge to protect it [from all dangers]”, he said while addressing the party workers at a function arranged at Bilawal House here to celebrate the party’s impressive performance in Lahore’s by-election.

The PPP supremo vowed to make the country strong and successful in the wake of dangers. “We were taking the country on the path of success, but elections were rigged through Returning Officers”, he said in an implicit reference to 2013 general elections. He said no part of the country was without people having great love for the PPP founder ZA Bhutto and the party. Asif Zardari vowed to make Pakistan a great country for the coming generations.

“Contesting elections in Punjab has never been a problem for the PPP. But we have our own weaknesses [which become our obstacles]”, he observed.

Asif Zardari accused the PML-N of carving out constituencies of its own choice to secure an easy win in the elections. “They have made constituencies keeping in view the baradaris’ (political clans), neighborhoods and even the streets [having their vote bank]”, he alleged. Talking about the NA-133 constituency, the PPP leader said that BB Sahiba [Benazir Bhutto] won election from this constituency when it was bigger in size.

“Not only in Lahore, but such constituencies were also carved out in the whole of Punjab. But we will change these constituencies and fight with them in each street and corner”, he averred.

Declaring the PML-N leaders anti-Pakistan, Asif Zardari said: “We will fight against them because they are against Pakistan. They are against my homeland. If someone does not want to die in this land, I wonder what is wrong with him. We will live and die here”.

Lauding the party’s performance in Lahore’s by-election, he said he was expecting over 50,000 votes for the PPP candidate. “Had we been able to pull the voters out of their homes, we would have achieved this target”, he added.

Zardari also urged unity in the ranks and file of the party. He endorsed a proposal from Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to organize the party at the ward level. “Make planning for ward-wise organization, and I will take care of the rest. I will also take care of Pakistan”, he said.
