PESHAWAR - The Fata Students Organisation (FSO) has demanded of the government to take tangible steps for reconstruction of destroyed educational institutions in Federally Administrative Tribal Area (FATA), besides provision of basic facilities to tribal students.
The protesting students led by SFO President Shaukat Aziz and General Secretary Haroon Khan were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands.
While addressing the protestors, the FSO leaders said that education plays role of backbone in the development of a country but in Fata the development could not be done due to lack of education. They informed that most of the schools and colleges have been closed for the last several years while some of them were given on rent by the concerned political agents to non-governmental organisations (NGO) in tribal belt. The protesting students also blamed that security forces have established security check posts in some of colleges in tribal agencies, due to which the children of the respective areas were being deprived of their fundamental and constitutional right of education.
They also said that lack of teachers was the main reason behind the closer of educational institutions.
The protesters demanded of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shaukatullah and concerns authorities to reopen all the closed educational institutions and take practical steps for the reconstruction of damaged educational institutes in FATA.
They urged to increase a special quota for tribal students in educational institutions of settled areas, besides a raise in annual scholarship. They also demanded to hire building for colleges, schools and hospitals in Fata to save the precious time of students and lives of ailing people.
