LAHORE  - A 32-year-old woman was found murdered after being raped from Allama Iqbal Town area early on Friday, police sources said.
Some passersby spotted the body of a woman, unidentified so far, in an empty plot in Mehran block of Allama Iqbal Town and contacted the police by phone.
Police investigators said that the woman, clad in black shalwar and red shirt, was lying dead in a vaccant plot in the area as they reached the crime scene. The body was moved to the morgue for postmortem examination.
A senior investigator termed the gruesome killing as blind murder and said that the police are investigating to ascertain the identity of the lady.
He further said that the possibility of “rape or gang rape before murder” could not be ruled out in this case since there were severe torture marks on the body parts of the woman. Police say they believe unidentified men abducted the woman from somewhere and fled after throwing her body in an empty plot in the wee hours of Friday.
The police have registered a murder case against unidentified killers and are investigating with no arrest made yet.
SUICIDE: A 26-year-old poverty-stricken man ended his life by swallowing poisonous pills in Old Anarkali police precincts on Friday.
Resident of Sargodha district, Mazhar, was working as a security guard at a private hospital located on the Ravi Road. Police sources said that Mazhar committed suicide in a hotel room by swallowing poisonous pills.
Police also recovered a suicide note from his room. As per the note, the deceased man had been facing sever financial constraints for the last many months and was unable to repay the debt. Police have handed over the body to the family without autopsy.
