peshawar - The police on Saturday arrested eight activists of Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) and cleared a ground where the activists were making arrangements to hold a rally, scheduled for today (Sunday).
According to an FIR lodged on the report of Yakatoot Police Station SHO Ali Sayed, the police vacated the ground where arrangements were being made for PTM rally, planned for Sunday.
A spokesman for Peshawar Police told The Nation that the ground was vacated by the cops.
The PTM activists were organising the rally in connection with the second anniversary of PTM worker Arman Luni.
It may be mentioned here that the district administration has imposed Section-144, banning the gathering of more than five persons, citing terrorist threats as well as Covid-19 SOPs.
A day earlier, the KP Sports Directorate had written a letter to the deputy commissioner Peshawar, seeking ban on the PTM rally as no political activity was allowed at any sports facility.
Also on the day, several people, carrying Pakistani flags, staged demonstration against the planned rally of PTM and their video clips of exchanging harsh words with PTM workers also went viral on social media afterwards.
