Birtan, Mariia lift ITF World J5 Jr Tennis titles

LAHORE-Turkey’s Birtan Duran and Russia’s Mariia Masiianskaia lifted the boys’ and girls’ titles of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President ITF World J5 Junior Tennis Championships, which concluded at PTF Complex on Saturday. 
According to PTF spokesman, Birtan Duran beat Sam Kydd Baumgartner of Switzerland 7-5,6-4 in the hard-fought boys’ singles final. Sam built a 5-3 lead but Birtan bounced back in great style to win the first set 7-5. A see-saw battle was witnessed in the second set but after a tough fight, Birtan managed to hold his nerves and won the set 6-4 to claim the title. 
In girls’ singles final, Mariia Masiianskaia outsmarted Iman Khan of the United Kingdom 6-3, 6-1. Iman fought hard in the first against Mariia, whose strong and consistent game then helped her win the set 6-3. The second set was fully dominated by the Russian, who comfortably won it 6-1 to clinch the title. 
Additional Secretary Ministry of Interior Iftikhar Shallwani, who is also Senior Vice President PTF, graced the occasion as chief guest, who along with PTF President Salim Saifullah Khan, gave away prizes and trophies to the winners. He also lauded the finalists for displaying tremendous tennis skills and amusing the spectators with their outstanding games.
