3rd ATC established in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: A third Anti-Terrorism Court was established in Rawalpindi for early disposal of pending cases.

According to media reports, Chief Justice Lahore High Court decided to set up a third Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi in view of the pending cases and functioning of only two ATCs for all the four districts of Rawalpindi division. Sessions Judge Multan was transferred and appointed at the newly-established ATC.

Justice Abdul Rahim will take charge on Monday and some 50 cases from other courts will be shifted to the court No.3.–Staff Report

 Book ‘Satwaan Aasman’ launched

 RAWALPINDI: Book launch of, “Satwaan Aasman, written by Urdu Department Mansehra University Chairman Dr Nazar Abid was held at the Rawalpindi Arts Council’s Adabi Baithak under auspices of literary and cultural organisation, Harf-o-Awaz.

The ceremony was presided over by Dr Irshad Shakir Awan while famous poet Sarfraz Shahid, Dr Munawar Hashmi and Prof Athar Zaidi were the chief guests. The speakers also included Dr Nisar Turabi, Dr Sher Ali, Shazia Akbar, Naseem-e-Sahar, Dr Agha Shuja, Tehzeb Fatima and Ali bin Uzair.

The speakers were off the view that “Satwaan Aasman” based on collection of essays were heart touching and full of living colours. Dr Nazar Abid while addressing on the occasion said that it was great honour for him that renowned intellectuals and writers appreciated his work.–INP
