PMA threatens complete strike

Our Staff reporter OKARA - The PMA Okara chapter has demanded the transfer of Assistant Commissioner (AC) Asif Rauf, accusing him of illegal raids on the doctors clinics here in the city. The PMA also warned of a strike and massive protest if the AC was not transferred. The demand was made at a PMA meeting held here under the chair of its Okara President to discuss the rude and disgusting behaviour of the AC towards doctors. The meeting was attended by former PMA president Dr Shahid Akram Qari, Capt (r) Dr Liaqat Ali Kausar, Dr Iftikhar Amjad, Dr Fateh Mohammad, Dr Khushnood and a large number of other doctors. During the meeting, the matter regarding the raids on registered clinics by AC Asif Rauf to pressurise doctors and his indecent attitude towards doctors were discussed at length. PMA Okara President Dr Ishtiaq Ali said that the behaviour of the AC Okara was highly condemnable and impertinent. He demanded the Punjab government to transfer the AC Okara forthwith. If the government does not take any action the PMA Okara will be forced to lock all government and private clinics and will go on a complete strike until their demand is met, he warned. RULERS URGED TO BREAK BEGGING BOWL: The International Monetary Fund has held the national economy hostage with the help of the present government, MPA Mian Yawar Zaman alleged while talking to the media persons at the Muslim League House here on Monday. To save national interests, the begging bowl should be broken. The flawed economic policies will cause a huge loss to national exchequer. The rulers have failed to solve the national issues, he added. Mr Zaman said if the policies of General (r) Musharraf had been put aside, the whole situation would have changed. He added due to shortage of electricity, gas and petroleum products, the wheel of economic progress has come to a standstill. As a result, the nation is facing price hike, unemployment, poverty and suicide incidents.
