ISLAMABAD - Newly-appointed Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Tariq Malik has made a major reshuffle within the top hierarchy of the authority following reports of alleged corruption in its Karachi office.

Besides this, chairman NADRA has also suspended as many as 39 officials of the authority in Regional Head Office (RHO) Karachi on charges of issuing counterfeit CNICs (computerized national identity cards). He has formed an investigation team comprising senior officers of NADRA to probe the matter. According to official sources in NADRA, Malik would shortly be visiting Karachi to look into the matter of alleged corrupt practices in RHO and it is likely that he will take further disciplinary action.

According to a notification issued by the NADRA Headquarters (HQ) in Islamabad, as many as 11 directors generals (DGs) and a director of the authority have been reshuffled and posted at new positions. All officers have been directed to report at their new place of posting on July 10.

The notification reads that Col (retd) Tahir Maqsood Khan working as Director General (DG) Operations at NADRA HQ has been transferred and posted as Chief of Staff (COS) to chairman NADRA, Brig (retd) Talat Qayyum working as DG (Succession Certificate) at HQ has been posted as DG RHO Islamabad, Brig (retd) Khaldi Latif Khan working as COS posted as DG RHO Karachi, Major (retd) Imran Ali Khan Acting DG RHO Sukkur posted as acting DG RHO Multan and Lt Col (retd) Sohail Mehmood DG (Legal) at HQ has been transferred and posted as DG RHO Sukkur. 

Similarly, Lt Col (retd) Shams Bin Niaz DG RHO Multan has been transferred and posted as DG (Succession Certificate) at HQ, Lt Col (retd) Muhammad Anees Khan DG (Admin and HR) has been posted as DG (CRMS) at HQ, Lt Col (retd) Muhammad Talha Saeed DG (HR Pool) posted as DG Alien Registration at HQ.

 Zulfiqar Ahmed DG RHO Islamabad posted as DG (HR Pool) at HQ, Lt Col (retd) Sheikh Muhammad Jafer Iqbal DG (CRMS) posted as (DG HR Pool) and Muhammad Fahim Khan Acting DH RHO Karachi has been transferred and posted as Acting DG (Opposition) at HQ.  Ms Naz Shoeb Director Projects at NADRA Headquarters has been transferred and posted as Director (Public Engagement Department).
