Karzai, Nejad greet Nawaz


ISLAMABAD  - Presidents of Afghanistan and Iran Thursday felicitated Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on assuming the office of premier of Pakistan.
Afghan President Karzai telephoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and conveyed his best wishes. He expressed the hope that both the brotherly countries would continue to work for further improvement in the bilateral relations. The Afghan president said that such relations would augur well for peace and stability in the region.
Karzai also extended invitation to Premier Nawaz Sharif to visit Afghanistan, says a press statement. The prime minister accepted his invitation and thanked the Afghan president. The prime minister said that he was looking forward to visit Afghanistan.
In his message of felicitations, Iranian President Ahmadinejad congratulated prime minister and the people of Pakistan on the successful completion of general elections in Pakistan and victory of PML-N.
In a separate message, the Speaker of the Iran's Consultative Assembly, Mr Ali Larijani, congratulating the prime minister stated that the transfer of power to PML-N, was indicative of high confidence reposed by the people of Pakistan in PM Nawaz and his party. The Iranian speaker also hoped for increased parliamentary interaction between the two countries in the days ahead.
