ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s Shia political faction Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) on Sunday held countrywide protests against the Peshawar bomb blast.
On the call of MWM leadership, thousands of workers held peaceful protests in many big cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan to condemn the Peshawar Imambargah suicide blast that had claimed 63 precious lives and left over 190 others injured on Friday last. The participants of the protests across the country chanted slogans and demanded arrest of terrorists network of the attack and justice for the victim of the blast. In Islamabad, hundreds of MWM workers gathered in front of the National Press Club and held a peaceful walk towards the Parliament House.
The speakers at different cities while addressing the protesters termed the terrorist attacks against the Shia community in the country as a premeditated conspiracy.
While addressing the protesters on video link from abroad, MWM leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that those who spurred the terrorists were responsible for the genocide of Shia community.
He committed that they will never let this blood go in vain, adding that they will keep fighting against the oppressors and will demand punishment for the terrorists and justice for the victims of terrorism.
Meanwhile, addressing the protesters here in Islamabad in front of the Parliament House, spokesperson MWM Allama Maqsood Ali said that they are waiting for justice to be delivered to them.
He said that Pakistan is already swamped in unending crisis. He said that it cannot afford any other bloodshed.
Allama Syed Hasnain Abbas who is the senior leader of MWM claimed that Shia community in Pakistan was deprived of their basic right to life. He questioned the status of state and said, “What kind of state is his where the oppressors are wandering freely and and the victims are begging for justice.
MWM leader from Gilgit Baltistan chapter Allama Ahmad Ali Noori while addressing the protesters said that those involved in the Peshawar bomb blast must be brought in front of the nation.
