Zardari, Niazi gave people nothing but despair: CM

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari have given people nothing except despair.

During a meeting with Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir, Shehbaz said if Allah Almighty gives the PML-N the opportunity to serve the nation again, it will set new records of development in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the PML-N selflessly served the public day and night over the last five years. He expressed the hope that voters would once again vote for his party. He said that overcoming the energy crisis and eliminating terrorism from the country were achievements of the government. He said that incumbent government’s development projects would be written in golden words in the history. He claimed that the projects being completed during his government had no precedence in the history.

Khurram said the PML-N could sustain the steadiness of development in the country. Ideas regarding political matters and overall situation were exchanged during the meeting.

Meanwhile, talking to delegations of elected members, Shehbaz said that people should vote for the PML-N for continuity of development projects. He said that Niazi and Zardari had only chanted slogans. “Let us know if there is any hospital like Layyah and Vehari,” the chief minister said. He said the government would make every hospital of Punjab exemplary. He said health culture was changing in Punjab and government hospitals have now quality test facilities. He said high quality medicines were made available at government hospitals. He said that pathology labs were being set up at 26 district headquarters hospitals under the subjective system, which will provide facility of more than 43 free medical tests and fee of these tests would be paid by the Punjab government. He said that pathology labs will be established in three steps though out the province and they will be handed over to administration of best foreign pathology labs.

The chief minister said that a renowned company of Japan, Hitachi, will provide facility of CT scan at district hospitals with its personal system. He said that CT scan facility will be made available to people 24 hours a day. He said there won’t be any excuse for absence of doctors and staff or out-of-order of CT scan machines. He said that those who were raising slogans about southern Punjab had done nothing in their tenure. He said the PML-N allocated 42 percent of development budget for southern Punjab.

Earlier, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced financial assistance for families of those who lost their lives in a firing incident in Kharan in Balochistan.

He said the Punjab government will provide the bereaved families of labourers with one million each. Undoubtedly there was no substitute for precious human lives however this was merely to express solidarity with the grieving families, he added. Those who died in the incident belong to Okara and other adjoining areas.
