No room for corruption in Punjab: ACE

New director vows to purge depts of menace

BAHAWALPUR -  No nation could prosper in presence of corruption as it is the biggest evil of the society thus the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) is implementing zero tolerance policy against the menace in Bahawalpur Region, claimed new ACE director.

“No one is above the law and strict action will be taken against corrupt elements of the society. The ACE is playing an important role to free Punjab from corruption. Earth will shrink for the corrupt elements,” said ACE Bahawalpur Director Syed Tariq Bukhari said.

He added, “There is acute shortage of staff in the ACE.  Officers and officials of ACE had been directed to probe the complaints on merit without taking any pressure. Professionals’ complainants are being discouraged. A total of 264 inquires have been completed and 21 cases disposed of.”

Bukhari expressed these thoughts while talking to The Nation exclusively. He said that the purpose of the ACE is to stop corruption within the government departments and to take steps to stop it in future. In this regard, actions will be taken without any discrimination, he said.

“No one is above the law and every corrupt element will be treated according to the law,” he said. “Corruption is such an evil which is becoming the reason for the spreading of other bad things in the society and it takes nations towards the path of destruction.”

He added that ACE was playing an important role in making Punjab corruption free. He said that strict action will be taken against corrupt elements present in any government department and no leniency will be tolerated in this regard.

He added that he had conveyed the clear message to all of the officials of Anti Corruption Establishment. He said posts of deputy directors investigation, assistant director investigation and assistant director technical and circle officer and inspector headquarters are lying vacant for a long, he detailed.

Thus, he added, the efficiency of the department is suffering badly and more than 500 inquirers are pending due to non-availability of assistant director technical. He said that every possible step is being taken to provide justice for the people at their doorsteps. “For this, I started 2-day visit to every district of my region for the redressal of the grievances of the poor. Media and public have an important role to elimination the corruption. They should come forward, play their role and point out the corruption,” he noted.
