Political consensus imperative to resolve NFC issue: Qadri

ISLAMABAD - Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser said yesterday that development in erstwhile Fata will bring prosperity to common people.

“Fata districts need special consideration in context of changing situation in Afghanistan,” he expressed these views while chairing the meeting of FATA and KP public representatives to formulate recommendations for FATA dis-tricts’ development in Parliament House.

He said that changing environment of Ex-FATA region is interlinked with po-litical consensus. Speaker Asad Qaiser said that opinion of all stakeholders was vital to meet Fata all challenges after merger. He also expressed hope that provincial representatives will continue their efforts to make Fata dis-tricts prosperous region. He also briefed the participants about three work-ing groups which were made under committee on development of Fata. He said that national support is also compulsory for provision of fundamental neces-sities to people of FATA.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri said that political consensus and political input was imperative to resolve issue of NFC and Seats of National Assembly. He said that Sindh and Balochistan needed to be agreed. 

He said that census in FATA dejure method as defacto was not to be followed. He also informed the participants about new projects of digitalisa-tion of land record in the whole KP province. MNA Dr Haider Ali appreciated efforts of Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and recommended for increas-ing Federal government’s cooperation for three percent share in NFC. MPA Mrs Naeema raised objection regarding census method in FATA. 

MNA Jawad Hussain said it was right of erstwhile FATA to have three percent share of NFC for its development.  MNA Muhammad Iqbal Khan recommended for land record reforms to be initiated at the earliest. 

 

He asked for funding from federal government for development in erstwhile FATA. He also said that functionalisation of judicial system in FATA was imperative to maintain peace in the region. He also said that not even basic education and health facilities had been provided to erstwhile FA-TA people. He also mentioned about police, judiciary and regulation matters. Mrs Naeema Kishwar said Fata merger was an achievement in itself. She stressed upon women empowerment and said that not even a single female educa-tion or female health centre was established. She also demanded that reserve seats for erstwhile FATA women must be increased. MNA Jamuluddin said that purpose and benefits of merger are not visible on ground. He also talked about census issue especially in FATA.

 

 

MPA Molana Salahudin mentioned about taking independent decision regarding FATA merger. He also said that it was forseen that merger would bring peace but so far the dream of peace is a distant dream. While responding to a re-quest of Roads schools and Health facilities , Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser directed to present these issue in written form so that committee can pursue these matters.MPA Wilson Wazir sb warmly expressed thankfulness for Speaker for Parliamentary ownership for bringing development in FATA. He also suggested for such special committee at provincial level also. He said that minorities be special focused. Nisar Khan Mohmand MPA Mohmand Agency asked for inclusion of receomendations of provincial representatives.

Later on Speaker National Assembly  Asad Qasier also held meeting with both electronic and Print Media Representatives . While replying to Question of Media Representatives, he said that this committee would continue to build consensus for development of Ex-FATA region and taking all measure to bring trade and employment opportunities for people of FATA.
