To me, Government College University is what Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry would be to any witch or a wizard (if there exists any). Those who have seen the latter would certainly agree with me, given the gothic architecture of the magnificent building we all have had the pleasure to set our feet in.
Unlike some (many, more like) in my class, I remain one of those who cherish every single moment spent in this very place. While there are those who complain about not getting A*s in each subject, there are those who are happy about the fact that they were given the chance to study and learn in a prestigious institution such as GCU. Founded in 1864, GCU turns 154 this year, while maintaining the legacy of excellence and the grandeur.
The hunger to explore yourself, the moment you step inside the university is such that you just cannot give up. My department is located in the main branch and in the main block, consisting of a small garden just outside my classroom, famously known as the Shahab Garden. It, moreover, has an amphitheater that attracts most of the people. Both the places happen to have significance of their own. Numerous amount of artists, musicians, actors, writers, poets and debaters were once part of this institution. This was what inspired me to see where I stood.
The day I entered the premises of Government College, I was dazzled by the beauty it held. I had it in my heart that the experience I am going to get out of this prestigious institute, will be precious. Little did I know life goes that easy on you. The four years were just not easy, yet they taught me some of the most important lessons of life, gave me all that I craved. Each moment spent here has been wonderfully memorable.
The nostalgia that I get while I remember each and every moment spent here, reminds me that just a few days to go and I’ll be away from “home”.
Yes, it felt so like home. Our fits of laughter, our cries can still be heard in the corridors. The rushing to the classes when running out of time, the hot summer days and the long winter walks. Everything seemed so dear, so close to the heart. The four years passed by in a blink of the eye but the memories made are still intact. Goodbyes are never easy, they say. Yes, they have never been easy and never will be but they memories collected shall never take me away from my home. Government College shall always exist within me. No bidding goodbyes and no farewells. The link shall never be broken and home will be home. Always…
