Young Turks of CJs

Lawyers are expected to know the law and respect it too. Unfortunately, lack of tolerance has turned them violent. These days they are mostly seen thrashing police officers, misbehaving with judges or attacking media men. The Chief Justices of the higher judiciary, by eulogizing the "young lawyers' contribution" in the struggle to get back their jobs for them, have unwittingly encouraged them to take the law in their hands. It is time that senior leadership of lawyers and judges shamed them a little by publicly condemning the few ruffians the lawyers have in their midst. These rascals must be punished for their ugly actions to set the principle that no one is above the law. -ENGR S.T. HUSSAIN, Lahore, via e-mail, July 31.
