KARACHI - Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) on Saturday expressed its satisfaction over the progress being made by law enforcing authorities in nabbing suspects allegedly involved in vandalising Ganesh Temple in Rahim Yar Khan.
In a meeting of the PHC headed by its patron Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani in Karachi, it was informed that 40 suspects who allegedly vandalised the temple have been arrested and the process to reconstruct the worship place has also begun.
“Police are also going after other suspects in the case,” the patron of the PHC said while rejecting propaganda against the country in the guise of such attacks saying that the security institution’s prompt action proved that the nation stands united against such extremist elements.
Condemnation of the incident from the National Assembly also highlighted a positive image of the country globally, he said while also sharing details about how Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmad took notice of the incident after a meeting with him.
It was decided in the meeting to observe National Day for Minorities in the country on August 11 with hoisting Pakistani flag at temples across the country to mark Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s speech on the same day in 1948 emphasising that people living in Pakistan are free to go to their places of worships irrespective of their religion.
The events would highlight how they have been living freely in the country with their rights guarded in the Constitution of Pakistan and under the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
